Pedestrian Safety

The safety of pedestrians remains a priority. We’re mindful of families walking to nearby schools and neighbors enjoying the Grove on foot.  We installed a temporary crosswalk mid-block on Mary ST to create a contiguous pedestrian path since the current sidewalk on the west side of Mary Street does not continue north to Day AVE. Any proposed new temporary and permanent crosswalks are subject to Miami Dade County’s approval.

Regular street cleanings help minimize construction dust and debris, and we’re committed to keeping our shared spaces as tidy as possible. Storm drains are also actively maintained as part of our Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). Street cleaning and maintenance of storm drainage will be ongoing during all construction activity and will occur daily.

The number of gates installed is compliant with the approved MOT. This layout is designed to improve the maneuverability of delivery vehicles into and out of the site. The intention is to avoid delivery vehicles stalling as they wait to pull into the site, which would happen if there were a single-entry and exit point.

Please note that beginning on January 5th, we will begin the closure of sidewalks and the parking spaces abutting the project on Tigertail Ave. and Mary Street for safety reasons as mandated by the City of Miami. The sidewalks and parking spaces are anticipated to remain closed for the duration of construction

We will continue coordinating with the City of Miami and Miami Dade County to help maintain safe and accessible pathways around the site.

Please know we will keep you informed of any lane closures and provide appropriate notice. Any upcoming lane closures will be manned with trained flagmen on-site to help manage traffic flow.

For safety purposes during construction, the City has mandated that the sidewalks and parking lane abutting the property on Tigertail Avenue and Mary Street remain closed during construction.

We installed a temporary mid-block crosswalk on Mary Street during the demolition phase of construction. Any proposed new temporary and permanent crosswalks are subject to Miami Dade County’s approval.

We understand concerns about access and we will continue to monitor traffic patterns and communicate any temporary lane closures to the community. Emergency vehicle access and overall traffic flow will remain steady.

Our proposed construction traffic circulation plans incorporate other activities within several blocks of the site for optimal circulation for the neighborhood, nearby construction sites. As our construction progresses, we will coordinate with Public Works for any required changes at our site.

Tigertail Ave. is a shared use vehicle and bike path lane. Vehicular lanes will remain open, so cyclists can continue to circulate as is customary.

We’re committed to keeping our neighbors informed as construction progresses.   We will continue to keep the community informed with updates on this website.  Likewise if anyone has questions, they can email us at Community@thewellcg.com.
