New Phase of Construction Underway

The next phase of construction has started and will focus on earthwork activities to prepare the site for future building stages. Over the next few months, you may notice additional activity within our site fence.

Beginning January 5th, we will begin the closure of sidewalks and parking lanes abutting the project on Tigertail Avenue and Mary Street for safety reasons as mandated by the City.

Construction vehicles will follow a designated route to minimize traffic impacts, avoiding smaller internal neighborhood roads.

How we’re managing construction activity in the neighborhood

The safety of pedestrians remains a priority. We installed a temporary crosswalk mid-block on Mary Street to create a contiguous pedestrian path since the current sidewalk on the west side of Mary Street does not continue north to Day Avenue. Any proposed new temporary and permanent crosswalks are subject to Miami-Dade County’s approval.

Regular street cleanings help minimize construction dust and debris. Storm drains are actively maintained as part of our Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). Street cleaning and storm drainage maintenance will be ongoing during all construction activity and will occur daily.

The number of gates installed is compliant with the approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan. This layout improves the maneuverability of delivery vehicles, avoiding the stalling that would occur with a single entry and exit point.

Beginning January 5th, sidewalks and parking spaces abutting the project on Tigertail Avenue and Mary Street will be closed for safety reasons as mandated by the City. We will continue coordinating with the City and Miami-Dade County to maintain safe and accessible pathways, and will notify the community of any lane closures.

For safety purposes during construction, the City has mandated that sidewalks and parking lanes abutting the property on Tigertail Avenue and Mary Street remain closed. We installed a temporary mid-block crosswalk on Mary Street during the demolition phase. Any proposed new temporary and permanent crosswalks are subject to Miami-Dade County’s approval.

We will continue to monitor traffic patterns and communicate any temporary lane closures. Emergency vehicle access and overall traffic flow will remain steady. Tigertail Avenue is a shared-use vehicle and bike path lane — vehicular lanes will remain open so cyclists can continue to circulate as customary.
